| Mudra for Creativity |
Musing…
“Creativity is a voice
that calls us from dreams, that peeks out the corners of our eyes when we think
no one is looking, the longing that breaks our hearts even when we think we
should be happiest and to which we cannot give a name. When I was young, I
heard the voice, the ticking, had the dream, but I didn't know what it was and
felt only the pain, the longing that the voice inside brought me.”
-Judy
Collins
Charise’s Turn:
This is where my thinking stops since, as Judy Collins says,
“we cannot give a name” to that voice of creativity within us. It’s the voice
before the voice, before the word, before the song, before the expression.
Before the understanding even that something wants expression. Like a tug, a
calling, a rumbling, there is something going on internally, a certain energy. This
energy is formless and that’s the beauty of it. It can take on any form and it
can be restless, looking for a way to break through.
One way to harness that creative energy is with a mudra – a yoga
hand position. Ushas mudra, or mudra for creativity, is a simple act of
integrating the fingers of your hands clasping together, with left thumb on top
for women and right thumb on top for men. Just to sit and breathe for a couple of minutes with this
mudra can offer a channel to your creative source.
Get Fired Up:
Unleash your creativity. Allow yourself to open to the
energy of your creative spirit. Ushas mudra is a tool.
