Watch for Those Sparks!

Musing...
“Watch for those sparks!” This is usually stated in a warning tone, but I’m encouraging you to hear it as an imperative. Fires, and creative fires as well, all begin as a spark...and they are easy to miss.

Kate's turn:
I won’t belabor all the reasons we might miss them; I’d rather highlight how to capture them, so we can kindle that creativity.
My friend, who claims she has no creativity in her, said she wants to paint a wall in her home differently. Now THAT is a spark. She can go with that, and see where it takes her.

Another friend says she absolutely has no time to be creative; life is full already with commitments. But when I visited her home, I saw that huge spray of tropical flowers arching from her countertop. Now that is kindling her spark, for what is possible at this time in her life.

Muse missing?

Musing…
Sometimes you’re blank.
Ideas…none. Inspiration…zilch. Effort…lacking. What then?
Let’s look at this from another angle. You’re empty. You have nowhere to go but to settle into being empty. This is not the kind of empty where you are out of fuel. That pertains to machinery. No, this is the kind of emptiness that is full of surprise. This is where your muse can step in unannounced. Now isn’t that enticing?

Muse and Move

Musing…
“When in doubt, twirl”. This is an anonymous saying but seems to have Terpsichore’s name all over it. She’s the muse of music and dancing -- her name means, “to delight in the dance”. Twirl, whirl -- the antidote to getting stuck.

Charise’s turn:
When I put together a routine for a dance class, there is never a plan at the start. There is music – something that catches my attention. And then certain phrases of the music just sound like certain movement vocabulary. And then that vocabulary becomes an anchor for building other movement and finding transitions, which then string the whole thing together into a dance.

Muse in the Everyday

Musing…
We’ve been pointing you in the direction of the everyday to meet your muse. This is a solid direction to go in when you consider that your muse is already showing up in some way that you may or may not be clued into. The everyday of: what you choose to wear; how your stuff is arranged (even in disarray); the music you choose to listen to; the stories that appeal to you in books, films, the news; your sense of humor; and more.

How is your muse articulating your everyday?
Get Fired Up:
Laugh! Find a-muse-ment.
Thalia, muse of comedy, smiles on you as you:
∗Poke fun
∗See how humorous your situation is (especially if it wasn’t happening to you)
∗Fall into giggles that take you right out of the ordinary
∗Get into hysterics that bring tears of silliness

Maybe someone will ask you “what is so amusing?”
